Spooky Halloween activities in the Heritage City

Here's a few events to help get you into the spirit (pun intended) this Halloween, including ghost tours, parties and even a spooky carnival!

Halloween Trivia

Answer spooky questions at Orion Hotel's Halloween Trivia on Friday 31 October from 6.30pm-8.30pm.

Cheers with dark Halloween brews

Celebrate Halloween at Stony Creek Brewing and try three new dark beers on October 31. There will also be a spooky cocktail, decorations and lollies for the kids. Patrons are encouraged to dress up!

Paint and sip candy skulls at Soul Nook

The Soul Nook is hosting a special Halloween sip 'n' paint ya mate candy skull edition. Join them on Saturday 25 October for this fun art session.

Included is a hot or cold drink from the cafe, a slice of cake, expert guidance from your art teacher and all the materials you need to create.

At the end of the session take home your masterpiece!

Let's Get Spooky

A huge Halloween event is being held on Saturday October 25 at Nicholas Street Precinct.  The Let's Get Spooky event will transform Tulmur Place into a hauntingly fun celebration for all ages with the Handmade and Witchy Markets, projections and music.

Watch as the façades of 1 Nicholas Street and Tulmur Walk come alive with eerie Halloween-themed projections, dance the night away with a live DJ and MC at the Tulmur Stage, keep the little ones entertained with two exciting workshops – creating gooey slime and crafting wooden Halloween characters.

There will also be photo moments to capture Halloween memories and mystical finds at the Handmade Market.

The event will run from 5pm-9pm.

Ghost tours 

This Halloween learn about the ghosts of Ipswich with an interactive ghost tour.

Tours for Halloween include the Haunted Ipswich CBD Ghost Tour (running 31 October), Ipswich Cemetery Ghost Tour (running 18 October and 1 November) and Goodna Cemetery Haunted History Tour (running 25 October).

Halloween cocktail making class

The Rusty Nail are hosting a Halloween-themed cocktail making class on Thursday October 31.

Get ready to sip on wickedly delicious drinks, enjoy eerie music, and immerse yourself in a hauntingly fun atmosphere.

Whether you're dressed to impress in your best costume or just looking to enjoy a night out, this is the perfect way to celebrate Halloween in style.

Watch a cult classic horror movie

Prepare for a spook-tacular Hallo-weekend filled with chills, thrills, and lots of screams at Limelight Cinemas! See Casper for it's 30th anniversary on 31 October, get weird with The Rocky Horror Picture Show for it's 50th anniversary on October 16, and laugh and scream through Scream (1996) on October 31. Costumes encouraged, screams guaranteed!

Halloween trivia

Enjoy a night of trivia at Studio 188 with a Halloween theme on Friday October 27.  Hosted by local Matt Simpson and featuring two hours of general and spooky-focused Trivia questions, this is the perfect night out with friends.

Doors and bar will open at 7pm and trivia starts at 8pm.  First prize is six tickets to an Ipswich Civic Centre show and six complimentary drinks!

Sip 'n' Dip Halloween Night

A Halloween themed Sip 'n' Dip event is being held at the Coffee Club at Orion Springfield Central on October 27 and 28.

On October 27 a Dragged Out Halloween Edition event is being held.  Your ticket includes an opening drag queen performance, one glass of beer or wine and discounted cocktails all night, dinner from the Sip 'n' Dip menu and a Halloween-themed paint class.  There is also a prize for most spooky dressed.

Then on October 28 you can learn to paint Pumpkin Purr at the Coffee Club or glow in the dark candy skulls.  You can paint your friend or just follow the teacher's instructions to create a masterpiece under the black lights.

Your ticket includes all the materials you need, dinner from the Sip 'n' Dip menu and a glass of wine (or something else) to drink.

Carnival of Screams

The Ipswich Showgrounds will come alive with eerie excitement for the Halloween Carnival of Screams Twilight Event, happening Saturday 25 October from 4pm to 9pm.

Get ready for a frightfully fun night filled with ghoulish entertainment, thrilling rides, creepy stalls, and devilish treats - perfect for the whole family! Dress up in your best costume and join the spooktacular celebrations under the twilight sky.

Don't miss the haunted house, rides, food trucks, markets, spooky disco and trick or treating!

Entry is just $5 per person, and kids 12 and under get in free. Tickets available at the gate or online - book ahead and skip the queue!

Trick or Treat at Brothers!

Dress up in your best costumes and swing by the Trick or Treat Stand in the Brothers Foyer between 3pm to 6pm on Friday 31 October. There will be plenty of Halloween candy and treats to share with the little ghouls and goblins of Ipswich!

Don’t miss out on the frightful fun. Remember, all minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult (parent or legal guardian) while on the premises.

Haunted House Minuatures

See a a spooky celebration of art in miniature at Arttime Gallery! Ipswich has an abundance of local urban legends surrounding the numerous mines, haunted asylums and eccentric founding figures. See art displayed by Ipswich's award winning and professional artists along side the emerging creatives, with specially created pieces to tell the story of what goes on during in Ipswich in the witching hour. See the Haunted House Miniatures exhibition from 14 October until 2 November from 9am-5pm. 

Halloween karaoke, concert and theatre

Banshees Bar and Artspace are once again hosting a Halloween Spectacular this year!

Head down for Halloween Karaoke with Alexis Diamond and special guest Dakota Paint on Thursday 31 October from 7pm and enjoy free face painting.  There will also be a costume competition and raffle.

Musique Macabre will be held on Friday November 1. There will be dark experimental sounds and classic horror presented by shadowbox, Apo//o and Post-Cats.  Classic horror films will be shown with live sound tracks!

Then there's a Dark Folk, Gothic Metal Opera when Sepulchre Serenade presents "The Tragic Tale of Dr Faustus" on November 2.  This event has sadly sold out, but there are talks of hosting a second show!

Halloween Karaoke

The Mihi Tavern will be hosting an 18+ Halloween karaoke event on Saturday 2 November from 7.30pm.  There will be prizes for best dressed.

All things Halloween party at Walloon Hotel

The Walloon Hotel is hosting an 18+ only All Things Halloween party on Saturday 26 October.  From 8pm enjoy a night full of frights, delights and spine-chilling fun.

There will be prizes and goodies for epic costumes.

Dress up for Halloween or Day of the Dead at Montezumas

Montezuma's Ipswich are celebrating Halloween and Day of the Dead with free Churros.  To receive the churros, come dressed up in your Halloween or Day of the Dead costume and order at least two adult main meals.  This is available from Thursday October 31 until Saturday November 2.

Halloween After Dark at Riverlink

Spooky, creepy things happen after dark! Prepare for a frightful evening of scares, mystery, tricks and treats at Riverlink's Halloween After Dark. Enjoy freaky Tales From The Haunted Hallows and join for The Hallow Hunt, a spine-chilling adventure! Eerie clues will pave the way with spooky surprises around every corner. Unleash inner ghouls and get faces painted! Located near iPlay and opposite Nando's on Friday October 31.

Costume Party at General Public

This Halloween, General Public Ipswich is turning into the ultimate haunted hangout with their Halloween Costume Party on Friday, 31st October from 5pm.

Come dressed in your scariest, silliest, or most creative costume and join for a night full of thrills, chills, and plenty of fun.

There will be prizes for best dressed, spooky games and entertainment, spooky sips, lollies and treats, music and laugh

Halloween night market

A twilight celebration of eerie delights, local legends, and community magic will be held on Friday 31 October at the Top of Town night markets. The markets run from 5-8pm on Brisbane Street.

Try pumpkin spice ice cream at UB's Milk Bar

UB's Milk Bar is making a limited run of a new pumpkin spice ice cream! Get it at their Brisbane Street and Booval location this October for Halloween!

Escape the executioner

Race the clock to see if you can escape the Executioners Toolshed or Atonement before it's too late at Seraphim Escape Rooms.  These are great to do with a group of friends and even more fun on Halloween!

Pottering around the Top of Town event

Dark Magician Games are decorating the store for Halloween starting the first week of October, leading up to their Halloween event on Sunday October 31.

Pottering around the Top of Town - a Harry Potter themed day - will kick off on October 31 with fun and activities between Dark Magician, Rare and Pretty Dolls and the Retro diner, which will also be creating a Harry Potter themed menu.

Then a Defence Against the Dark Arts Interactive Magical Show will be held at Golebys basement with a costume competition at 1.30pm.

Booze 'n' Boo's weekend

The PA Hotel is hosting a Booze ‘n’ Boo’s Weekend Friday October 29 – Sunday October 31.  Prizes for best costume and scary Halloween themed cocktails. $10 wings each day 4pm-6pm with any drink purchase. 

Spooky cocktails will be poured including the Purple People Eater, an innocent fruit tingle with a spooky twist; Biohazard, don't let the name fool you, you'll want to contract these tropical flavours; The Poisoned Apple, Snow White may have fallen for the witch's trick but this cherry and apple flavoured treat is no trick; Jack-o-lantern, cinnamon and citrus creates a sweet-yet-sour spooky surprise; and Monster Musk, the musk monster discovered mango and the rest was history.

Trick or Treat at Orion 

Dress up and head to Orion Springfield Central to go on a special trick or treating trail.

Collect a list of participating retailers from a Spooktcular Halloween Stall located inside the Coles Mall, then explore with a bag in hand ready to collect as many treats as you can.

Retailers will also have offers and special food and drinks to get into the spirit of the evening.

The Trick or Treat runs on Thursday October 28 from 3pm – 8pm.

Boovalloween

Calling all ghouls, ghosts and little monsters! You’re invited to a free spooktacular trick or treat trail running across two epic days at Booval Fair.  Follow the spooky trail on Saturday October 28 and Sunday October 29 from 10am to 1pm to collect candy and find out what’s behind two haunted doors. Will you be brave enough to knock?⁣  

There will also be freaky face painting and balloon twisting.  Dressing up is encouraged!

Halloween Haunt Ipswich

Halloween Haunt Ipswich is back this year with theatrical light shows, interactive scarers, a haunted maze and much more!

The event will be running on Friday October 31 and Saturday November 1 from 6.30pm-9.30pm.

Halloween Haunt has been running for over 10 years raising money for Palliative Care at the Ipswich Hospital, gold coin donations are required for entry this year.

Visitors are encouraged to dress up - will you be brave enough to ask "trick or treat"?

Happy Halloween Event

Yamanto Town Central is holding a Halloween event on Thursday October 27.

The Happy Halloween event will be crammed with exciting activities including freaky face painting, trick or treating, and a Monster Mash kids disco!

Freaky face painting from 4pm - 6pm, trick or treating 4:30pm - 7:30pm and Monster Kids Disco 6:30pm - 8pm.

Trick or Treating will leave the check in the station every 15 minutes! Free events, no bookings required however parents/caregivers are to remain responsible for their children.
